Recruitment for the Election Observation Activity to Hungary
Following an official invitation to observe the parliamentary elections scheduled for 12 April 2026, in accordance with its mandate, and pending the recommendation of the Needs Assessment Mission (NAM) and publication of the NAM report, ODIHR is preparing for a potential deployment of an Election Observation Activity (EOA) for these elections. This recruitment notice is published in advance of the final decision regarding the deployment, scope, size and duration of an observation activity for the upcoming elections. As such, ODIHR retains the right to cancel any of the vacancies below:
- Head of Mission
- Deputy Head of Mission
- Political Analyst (2 positions)
- Legal Analyst (2 positions)
- Campaign Finance Analyst
- Election Analyst
- Voter Registration Analyst
- Gender Analyst
- Media Analyst
- Long-term Observer Co-ordinator
Procedure
All assignments are temporary contracted positions, and their duration will depend on the recommendation of the Needs Assessment Mission regarding the scope and duration of the election observation activity.
Candidates should be available from 25 February 2026 and be prepared to depart on short notice. Candidates must be citizens of OSCE participating States, excluding citizens of Hungary.

- Register in the ODIHR Election Expert Database. If you have already registered, please move on to the next steps.
- Complete or update all sections of Your Profile, including your personal information, professional experience, training, and education (complete your profile accurately, as ODIHR will select you on the basis of the information provided)
- Using the Election Expert Database, apply for the positions indicated under Available Vacancies (please note that you may apply for a maximum of two core team positions)
- Check the status of your applications once the recruitment is completed under Recruitment Result and receive an automatic notification via e-mail
The deadline for applications is 5:00 PM CET, 4 February 2026.
Please note that it will not be possible to apply after the deadline. Applications submitted through the ODIHR Election Expert Database will only be considered.
ODIHR retains the discretion to re-advertise the vacancy, to cancel the recruitment, or to offer an appointment with a modified job description or for a different duration. The OSCE is an equal opportunity organization and encourages applications from women candidates.
Remuneration will be in accordance with established OSCE election consultancy rates. ODIHR will provide coverage of travel expenses and a standard per diem, in accordance with OSCE travel policies.
