The conference
Since its establishment thirty years ago, ODIHR has assumed a leading role in the OSCE region in supporting states to strengthen their democratic institutions and respect for human rights, the rule of law as well as creating a platform for civil society to interact with national authorities, ensuring their voice is heard. ODIHR’s unique mandate stems from the commitments made by every OSCE state, and this continues to be the basis of all its work.
On the thirtieth anniversary of its establishment, ODIHR is convening a two-day conference to mark the many achievements of the last three decades, consider current challenges and opportunities, and discuss the Office’s role in continuing to help find solutions and promote democracy and human rights in the future. The conference will also allow participants to share experiences and exchange best practices, including new practices during the Covid-19 pandemic, which has affected every person in every country across the region.
ODIHR is grateful for the support of the Swedish Chairpersonship in the concept and organisation of the conference, as well as of Poland, the Office’s host country.
Participants
Representatives of OSCE participating States, OSCE institutions and OSCE executive structures, representatives of inter-governmental organizations, representatives of civil society, and researchers from the 57 participating States are encouraged to participate. The Partners for Co-operation are invited to attend and contribute with respect to their co-operation and links with the ODIHR.

Online registration at https://meetings.odihr.pl will be open from Thursday, 16 September 14:00 CET until Thursday, 7 October 23:59 CET.

Modalities
The meeting will start with opening remarks, followed by a high-level debate, three topical sessions, and closing remarks.
Interpretation will be provided into English and Russian.
Given the restrictions related to Covid-19, this meeting will take place both in-person and online. Please note that the number of seats in the venue is limited due to capacity limitations.
