A team from the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) visited Belgrade from 17 to 19 September 2012 to present the final report of the Limited Election Observation Mission for the 6 and 20 May parliamentary and early presidential elections in Serbia.

The report’s findings and recommendations were presented to officials from Serbia’s Foreign Ministry, the Republic Electoral Commission, and other ministries and government agencies, as well as representatives of political parties, civil society organizations and international organizations in Serbia.

Discussions focused on the report’s recommendations, which include the need to further strengthen the integrity of the election process, particularly with regard to the resolution of electoral disputes, the transparency of voter registration, and political finance.

The report also pointed out the need to review, consolidate and harmonize the legal framework for elections in Serbia.

The team emphasized that ODIHR was ready to assist in implementing those recommendations, upon the request of the authorities of Serbia. All OSCE participating States have committed themselves to promptly follow up on ODIHR’s election assessments and recommendations.
