About
The OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) will hold an online event to address the role of men in preventing and tackling gender-based violence, with focus on security and defence institutions.
This marks ODIHR’s continued contribution to the global campaign “16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence”, running from 25 November to 10 December every year.
Speakers
Speakers will include Jackson Katz, Co-Founder of Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP), one of the longest-running and most widely influential gender violence prevention programs in North America, and the first major program of its kind in the sports culture and the military.
An extract of TedX talk “Violence against Women, it’s a men’s issue” by Jackson Katz will also be screened.
Opening Remarks will be delivered by Ambassador Neil Bush, Head of UK Delegation to the OSCE, Vienna and The Chairperson of the OSCE MenEngage Network, and Andrea Huber, Head of Human Rights Department of ODIHR
Simultaneous Interpretation will be provided in English and Russian.
Registration
We warmly welcome members of delegations of OSCE participating states, government representatives, civil society organizations, international organizations, OSCE staff and academics to take part in this event.
Participation will be limited to 500 people in order of registration. Slots will be secured for up to 2 representatives of each OSCE delegation.

This event is In line with ODIHR’s mandate to combat all forms of violence against women (according to commitments made in Ljubljana 2005, Basel 2014, Milan 2018), and with the OSCE’s efforts to recognize the role of men in addressing root causes of gender discrimination and violence (Milan 2018).
