About
In partnership with ODIHR, the National Assembly of Armenia will host an expert meeting on parliamentary integrity and the development of a Code of Conduct. This initiative aims to reinforce ethical governance, transparency and accountability within Armenia’s parliamentary structures, by facilitating a constructive discussion on refining Armenia’s integrity framework. This event is part of ‘Stronger Democratic Institutions in Eastern Partnership Countries: an ODIHR project supported and funded by the EU’.
The meeting will bring together members of the Armenian National Assembly, governance and legal experts, and ODIHR specialists to examine best practices in parliamentary ethics and integrity frameworks from across the OSCE region. A key focus will be the draft Code of Conduct for the Armenian National Assembly, and participants will have the opportunity to exchange perspectives on its implementation and long-term impact. The meeting aims to produce a set of recommendations for the development and implementation of the Code of Conduct, ensuring that parliamentary work is guided by principles of professionalism, accountability and public trust.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
Parliaments that prioritize ethical governance, transparency and integrity are better equipped to safeguard democracy and public trust. Codes of Conduct help institutionalize ethical principles, ensure accountability for elected officials and create a culture of professionalism and respect in parliamentary settings.
Learn more about this topic in ODIHR’s Public Ethics and Integrity Toolkit,, which provides comparative insights from OSCE national parliaments and offers guidance on designing effective ethical frameworks.
