About
An interactive workshop on democratic lawmaking, entitled “Making the Law Count”, will take place in Warsaw on 24 and 25 June 2024.
Following the publication of the ODIHR Guidelines on Democratic Lawmaking for Better Laws (2024), leading legal experts from across Europe will present the key principles of democratic lawmaking to Ukrainian parliament and government officials involved in lawmaking activities. The participants will discuss how these principles can be adhered to at each stage of the legislative cycle to help make qualitatively better legislation based on the rule of law and human rights. A Ukrainian translation of the Guidelines will be presented at the event.
The workshop will provide an opportunity for the staff of the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada (parliament) and the Government of Ukraine to further enhance skills through interactive sessions and active exchanges of experience and good practices from across the OSCE region, and to explore and agree on concrete areas for future support to enhance the legislative process in Ukraine.
