About

ODIHR has developed this train-the-trainer course to strengthen police officers’ capacity to work effectively with Roma and Sinti while complying with international human rights standards.

This course will involve senior police personnel, including trainers and police officers from different regions of Romania. 

It will be conducted in Romanian and English, with simultaneous interpretation. 

Objectives

The course will:

  • Equip participants with the understanding of effective policing strategies that are fair and responsive to the needs of the people they serve;
  • Increase participants’ knowledge of and sensitivity to gender-specific issues that Roma and Sinti women face;
  • Develop participants' skills and knowledge on deploying the training at the national level to front line police officers.

Participation is by invitation only.

Background

The course is part of a project implemented by the General Inspectorate and funded under the Norwegian Financial Mechanism Programme, implemented in partnership with ODIHR.
