Addressing human trafficking risks in light of military attack on Ukraine: Training for civil society and frontline responders

The OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) is organizing training for civil society and frontline responders on countering trafficking in human beings and national referral mechanisms (NRM), following an alarming number of reports of traffickers targeting women and children fleeing Ukraine in light of the ongoing armed conflict.

Two training opportunities are envisaged: one on 20 – 21 March and the other on 23 – 24 March 2023 in Warsaw, Poland.

The training includes a dedicated session for trainers and aims to provide knowledge and skills regarding:

• Proactive identification of victims of trafficking in crisis situations and migration contexts;
• Trauma-informed and survivor-centred methods of working in the anti-trafficking field;
• Understanding vulnerabilities and gender-specific needs of people fleeing an armed conflict;
• National Referral Mechanisms (NRM);
• NRMs for children and protecting children from human trafficking in crisis situations.

The training will also serve as a networking platform for civil society organizations and frontline responders in Ukraine and in transit and destination countries for refugees from Ukraine.

For each training session, ODIHR will select up to 30 participants from Ukraine and transit and destination countries.
