About

This event will train up to 15 civil society activists from across South-Eastern Europe on recording and reporting hate crimes against migrants. The participants will be selected on the basis of their work with migrants in the region, and their experience of addressing the problem of hate crime targeting migrants.

Objectives

The event will enable participants to identify potential bias-motivated crimes, including recognizing and addressing the fact that victims may be targeted for multiple identity traits.

Participants will learn how to submit data to ODIHR on hate incidents motivated by racism, xenophobia and other types of bias - as part of the Office’s hate crime reporting work. They will then be encouraged to explore civil society coalition building as a mechanism to coordinate their efforts to record and report hate crimes.
