About
As part of ODIHR’s project “Advancing the Human Dimension of Security in Ukraine”, the Contact Point for Roma and Sinti Issues (CPRSI) will host a series of workshops focused on the relation between police forces and the Roma population.
Topics and goals
The events will provide forums for discussion of different issues concerning Roma in Ukraine, in particular in the targeted regions (Kyiv and Odesa).
The discussions will cover aspects relating to the safety and security of Roma - including of women and youth - and the relation between police and Roma.
Participants are representatives of Roma civil society, community leaders, police and other relevant stakeholders of local and regional authorities.
The meetings will discuss the human rights situation of Roma in Ukraine with a focus on building trust, understanding and cooperation between police and Roma, including by sharing good practices and recommended actions. They aim to create long-term channels for dialogue and cooperation at regional level.
The events will be conducted in Ukrainian and English, with simultaneous interpretation.
