About

In line with the OSCE Action Plan on Improving the situation of Roma and Sinti within the OSCE Area, ODIHR supports participating States in including Roma history and culture in educational texts, with particular consideration given to the experience of Roma and Sinti people during the Holocaust. Achieving this goal is instrumental in combatting the pervasive forms of racism and discrimination against Roma, and in promoting equality and non-discrimination.

To support progress in this area, ODIHR is organizing a study visit in Vienna involving various stakeholders from Austria, the Czech Republic, Romania and Slovakia, including representatives of educational institutions engaged in developing curricula and teaching materials and Roma civil society engaged in teaching about and commemorating the Roma and Sinti genocide.

The study visit aims to facilitate an exchange of experience and transfer of knowledge and know-how, good practice and relevant policies on the creation of teaching and educational materials about the Roma and Sinti genocide and on their integration into national educational curricula. Visiting participants will have an opportunity to learn from the experience of Austria in addressing this important matter.
