The OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) joined with other global and regional intergovernmental human rights organizations and experts in issuing a statement of appreciation for the work of Poland’s national human rights institution, the Commissioner for Human Rights, on 1 March 2016.

The statement followed a 15 January meeting among Poland’s Commissioner for Human Rights, Adam Bodnar, and representatives from ODIHR, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders, the Council of Europe and the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions.

The meeting provided an opportunity for discussions on the institutional landscape in Poland and the environment in which the office of the Commissioner for Human Rights is currently operating.
