About the event
The Academy on the Integration of Migrants and Refugees in the Baltic Countries is an interagency initiative aimed at strengthening the capacity of local authorities to support the inclusion of newcomers.
The programme provides practical training for city administrations, helping them respond effectively to the opportunities and challenges linked to migrant and refugee integration in urban settings.
Developed jointly by the Council of Europe’s Intercultural Cities (ICC) Programme, ODIHR, the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the Academy brings together expertise from across international organisations to support local-level action.
The fourth and final training of the series will take place in Riga on 27–28 May 2026 and will be delivered by experts from ODIHR and the Council of Europe.
What the training will cover
This final session will focus on key challenges facing cities, including:
- addressing disinformation related to migrants and refugees
- applying trauma-informed approaches to integration
- strengthening inclusive and effective local responses
Who is participating
The training is intended for staff from local authorities, including city officials working on migrant and refugee integration and related areas.
