About
An annual ODIHR trial monitoring meeting is taking place in Skopje on 22 and 23 November 2023, organized in close co-operation with the OSCE Mission to Skopje. For the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic, around 30 representatives from selected OSCE field operations and civil society organizations from across the OSCE region are convening in person to share their experiences, challenges and good practices in the field of trial monitoring.
The meeting is designed to facilitate discussions on a wide range of topics, including new methodologies for monitoring cases on domestic violence, aspects related to monitoring administrative justice and war crime cases, with a particular focus on the Ukrainian context. The event includes a presentation of an OSCE/ODIHR tool on detecting gender bias in court proceedings. It also includes a training component focusing on the execution of judgements of the European Court of Human Rights in recent cases concerning independence and accountability of judges, judicial councils and good practices in relation to vetting processes.
