Warsaw, 10 May 2002 - The OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) welcomes yesterday's decision by the Latvian Parliament to abolish provisions in the election law requiring Latvian language proficiency of candidates standing for elections at the national and local levels.
