Monitoring of Freedom of Peaceful Assembly in Selected OSCE Participating States (May 2017–June 2018)

This report presents the main findings of the monitoring of public assemblies undertaken by ODIHR in selected OSCE participating States between May 2017 and June 2018. During this period, ODIHR directly observed assemblies and related activities in line with its mandate to support participating States in the implementation of their commitments on freedom of peaceful assembly.

The main goal of the monitoring and ensuing analysis was to identify gaps and challenges, as well as examples of good practices, in how participating States meet their human dimension commitments on the protection and promotion of freedom of peaceful assembly. The recommendations contained in this report are aimed at advancing efforts to better implement these commitments and relevant human rights standards in all OSCE participating States.
