ODIHR works with national human rights institutions to help safeguard human rights for all

National human rights institutions (NHRIs) are key players in protecting and promoting respect for human rights. Their role as a bridge between civil society and the state becomes even more important in times of crisis, when our human rights are challenged more than ever.

OSCE countries have committed to strengthening NHRIs, and ODIHR has been supporting this work by monitoring the situation of NHRIs across the region, providing expert advice and training NHRI staff.

Find out more in this video and hear NHRI leaders from different parts of the OSCE region share their thoughts on challenges facing these institutions and ways to address them.
