About the event

The webinar will examine how demographic shifts and ageing societies are reshaping political representation and participation across the OSCE area.

The programme will open with reflections on the OSCE PA Special Representative on Demographic Change and Security's 2025 report, followed by field-based insights from the OSCE Group of Young Experts on the implications of emerging gerontocratic trends. The final session will focus on developing practical, forward-looking recommendations.

The webinar is intended to foster evidence-based dialogue and to translate demographic analysis into actionable institutional responses. It will also inform ODIHR’s forthcoming publication on Youth Political Participation by incorporating reflections from the Special Representative, insights from the OSCE Young Experts network, and practical recommendations emerging from the discussion.
