About the event

As part of the 2026 Warsaw Human Dimension Conference, ODIHR, the OSCE Office of the Special Representative and Co-ordinator for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, and the OSCE Support Programme for Ukraine are jointly organizing this side event. The discussion will explore how survivors’ expertise can help build anti-trafficking systems that respond effectively to crises and conflict.

Armed conflicts, health emergencies, natural disasters and economic shocks can increase people’s vulnerability to exploitation while putting protection services under strain. Traffickers adapt quickly to changing circumstances, while victims continue to face barriers to identification, protection and access to justice.

The discussion will examine emerging trafficking trends and the challenges of preventing exploitation and supporting victims during crises. Speakers will explore how survivor leaders can help shape anti-trafficking policies and measures, and how to make their expertise a lasting part of responses throughout emergencies and post-conflict recovery.

The event is supported by ODIHR’s project “Supporting the Human Dimension of Security in Ukraine in Times of Crisis”.
