Audience

This event is open only to selected gender advisers from regional and national administrations in Ukraine.

Interested parties may contact ODIHR’s Gender Officer, Sasa Gavric, sasa.gavric@odihr.pl and National Project Officer, Angelina Biriukova, angelina.biriukova@odihr.pl .

Background

Ukraine has set up a clear legal and institutional framework related to gender equality promotion and gender mainstreaming. A key stakeholder is the Government Commissioner on Gender Equality Policy, reporting to the First Deputy Prime Minister. On the regional and national levels, gender advisers have been appointed to support institutions in mainstreaming gender.

Why is it important?

Gender advisers in regional and national administration are key stakeholders in the promotion of gender equality, ensuring that gender considerations are taken into account in internal processes and developments, including the development of gender-sensitive policy documents. Their capacity building, empowerment and networking are key to designing effective gender equality policies.
