The event aims to support the efforts of local stakeholders in addressing the ODIHR recommendations in the area of voter registration. The event will focus on sharing good practices in the area of voter registration and population registration; presenting the experience of relevant state agencies in developing long-term and sustainable systems to manage voter registration and voter lists, as well as mechanisms for data exchange between various agencies; identifying measures to ensure meaningful consultation on voter lists; and developing effective data protection safeguards. Specific attention will be paid to ensuring inclusiveness and non-discrimination regarding electoral participation of women, national minorities, persons with disabilities, displaced and homeless people.

The event will be attended by representatives of relevant ministries, institutions and central election administrations, activists and members of civil society organizations working in these areas, including citizen election observation groups, academics and local and international experts. The participants will come from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and North Macedonia.

The event is part of the ODIHR project “Support to Elections in the Western Balkans”, funded by the European Union and the Austrian Development Agency.
